Flyp Nebulizer

Flyp Nebulizer

Smaller and lighter than a smartphone, Flyp™ nebulizer delivers full-sized effectiveness with pocket-sized portability.  It’s whisper-quiet, thanks to HypersoniQ™ technology. Its internal disk vibrates at an ultrasonic speed — 2,000 times faster than a hummingbird’s wings — creating a fine aerosol of medication. You’ll find Flyp to be nimble, delivering a treatment in an average of 7 minutes. The internal battery houses enough charge for as many as 15 or more treatment and cleaning cycles, before requiring a recharge via Micro-USB.

And Flyp is warrantied for three years. It’s the nebulizer engineered to fit into your life — making it easier to follow your prescribed treatment plan for asthma, COPD, and other respiratory conditions.

Helpful Information FAQ

At the heart of Flyp Nebulizer is a stainless-steel disk the size of a dime & and half the thickness of a human hair. It has 1,000 4-micron holes that vibrate 110,000 times per second. As your liquid medication is pulled through the holes, it is converted into an inhalable aerosol.

WHAT CONDITIONS CAN FLYP BE USED TO TREAT?? Be sure to talk with your doctor.  Flyp is a general purpose nebulizer and may be used to treat asthma, COPD, cystic fibrosis, and other respiratory conditions commonly treated with nebulized medication.

HOW DOES FLYP COMPARE WITH A METERED DOSE INHALER

WHY CHOOSE FLYP? With metered-dose inhalers, only 10% of your medication may reach your bronchioles & even under medical supervision. That’s because you’re asked to depress the unit’s cartridge, then inhale at precisely the right time. Which, needless to say, can be very tricky. But with Flyp, 88% of albuterol and 90% of ipratropium bromide reaches your lungs’ bronchioles. Without any complex maneuvers.

HOW IS FLYP POWERED? Flyp has a lithium-ion battery, and it’s rechargeable via a USB port. That means no disposable batteries.

WHAT IS THE MEDICATION RESERVOIR CAPACITY? Flyp’s medication reservoir has an internal volume of 5ml.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO NEBULIZE WITH FLYP? Flyp delivers a standard, 3 ml dose of medication in about 7 minutes.

WHAT DRUGS CAN FLYP NEBULIZE?  Flyp has been FDA-cleared for use with any medication intended for a general-purpose nebulizer, such as albuterol, ipratropium bromide, cromolyn sodium, and budesonide, in addition to other medications. Flyp should not be used with hypertonic saline or medications that are indicated for use only with specific delivery devices.

HOW LONG WILL FLYP RETAIN ITS CHARGE? Flyp can be used up to ten times on one full charge.

CAN I CARRY FLYP FILLED WITH MEDICATION? It’s not recommended. We suggest filling Flyp with medication immediately prior to use. There may be factors that preclude preloading, such as the temperature stability of your medication.

HOW DO I CLEAN FLYP? Cleaning Flyp is simple. Just fill the Medication Reservoir with distilled or bottled water, turn the unit on for one minute, then empty. Then gently remove the Mouthpiece, rinse under running water, and lay to dry on a clean towel. Just be sure to never rinse the Main Unit.

Here’s a Flyp tip: once per week we recommend a deep cleaning of the disk with distilled white vinegar. Just follow the instructions above, substituting a bit of white vinegar for the distilled or bottled water. Then rinse and dry.

HOW DO I DISINFECT FLYP? Disinfecting Flyp is simple. Remove the Mouthpiece and use just enough 70% ethyl alcohol to cover the Nebulizer Disk completely. Let sit for ten minutes, then shake off the excess alcohol.

Then turn Flyp over, open the Reservoir Cover, remove the Medication Reservoir and repeat the same process as above, disinfecting the other side of the Nebulizer Disk.

When you’re done, reinsert both the Mouthpiece and the Medication Reservoir. Fill the Medication Reservoir with distilled water. Then plug the stopper, close the Reservoir Cover, and raise the Mouthpiece. Turn Flyp on; you’ll see a fine mist flowing from the Mouthpiece. After 10 minutes, your unit will turn off automatically. Then remove both the Medication Reservoir and Mouthpiece, shake off excess water, and let dry on a clean towel.

DOES INSURANCE COVER FLYP? Flyp may be reimbursable under HCPCS codes E0574 or E0570 (with a GL modifier). Consult your provider for details related to your specific health plan.

HOW LONG WILL FLYP LAST? WHAT IS THE WARRANTY? Flyp is warrantied to last for three years. Call us at 844-Flyp-NEB or email info@convexityscientific.com if your device is damaged.

WHAT IF I LOSE MY MOUTHPIECE OR RESERVOIR? To order replacement parts, email us at info@convexityscientific.com.

IS FLYP WATER-RESISTANT? Flyp is protected against vertically dripping water; it has a water ingress protection rating of 2. However, submerging Flyp in water can be hazardous for its lithium-ion battery.

CAN I USE MY HSA / FSA TO PURCHASE FLYP? You sure can.  Flyp is an HSA / FSA eligible purchase.  If asked, the fine line code (FLC) for Flyp is 9275.
