  5. Lastly, enter a few more details to complete your Kardia profile. Once finished, select “Complete Profile”.
  6. Once your Kardia profile is completed you will see a confirmation screen

After downloading the Kardia app and creating your account, the next thing to do is connect your KardiaMobile and start recording.

After opening the Kardia app, you will be taken to the Home tab.

  1. To get started, tap on the button beneath the image of the KardiaMobile, labeled “Connect Your Kardia Device”.
  2. Next, select the picture of the KardiaMobile by tapping on it. If you have not yet purchased a KardiaMobile, you can tap on the text that states “I need to buy a device”.
  3. A short video will show with instructions on how to properly record an EKG with the KardiaMobile. Just tap the play button on the video to begin watching. Once the video has finished, tap the “Next” button in the bottom right corner.
  4. After selecting next, you are taken to the EKG recording screen. You will be asked to grant Kardia access to your smartphone or tablet’s microphone. Tap “Grant Access” to complete this step. The KardiaMobile transmits an EKG signal directly to the microphone of your smart phone or tablet, so in order for the recording to transmit, this setting has to be turned on.
  5. Now, we will record our first EKG with the KardiaMobile. Follow the easy steps listed below to make sure you get a high quality recording.
    • Place your smartphone or tablet on the table in front of you.
    • Place your KardiaMobile on the table directly underneath your smartphone or tablet, making sure that the “A” logo is facing up.
    • When recording, your phone can either be placed Vertically or Horizontally, this will not affect the quality of the recording.
    • Take a seat in chair, and be in a seated, relaxed position.
    • Relax the arms and hands to reduce muscle noise.
    • Place your index and middle finger of your right hand on the right electrode, then do the same with your left hand on the left electrode.
  6. The KardiaMobile illustration on screen will turn green to indicate that a stable connection has been made, then the recording will begin counting down from 30 to 0 seconds.
  7. The signal strength of your recording will show on the right of the screen, and your real time BPM will show on the left.
  8. If you are receiving no signal or weak signal when recording, please visit the following article: How to fix KardiaMobile signal issues
  9. Make sure to keep your fingers lightly pressed on the metal electrodes through the entire duration of the recording. If contact with the electrodes is broken, the recording will start over.
  10. Once the recording is completed, the Kardia app will instantly analyze the recording, and provide you with an FDA cleared Kardia determination.

Many cardiologists recommend KardiaMobile as a tool for personal EKG monitoringIt’s a clinically validated, FDA-cleared device that allows users to record EKG readings on their smartphones and receive instant analysis, and in some cases, expert cardiologist review.

Here’s why cardiologists recommend KardiaMobile:
  • Clinically Validated:

KardiaMobile is a highly researched and validated device for detecting various heart conditions, including atrial fibrillation, bradycardia, and tachycardia.

  • FDA Cleared:

The device has received FDA clearance for its intended use, meaning it meets specific safety and effectiveness standards.

  • Provides Medical-Grade EKG Data:

KardiaMobile records EKGs that are comparable to those taken in a clinical setting, allowing for reliable monitoring.

  • Convenient and Easy to Use:

The device is portable and easy to use, allowing users to record EKGs at home or on the go, providing insights into their heart rhythm.

  • Optional Clinician Review:

The Kardia app allows users to send their EKG recordings to board-certified cardiologists for review and analysis, providing an additional layer of expert opinion.

  • Can Help Manage Certain Conditions:

Some cardiologists recommend KardiaMobile for patients with specific conditions like atrial fibrillation to monitor their heart rhythm and track potential changes, according to some users of the device.

Important Considerations:
  • Not a Replacement for Medical Care:

While KardiaMobile is a valuable tool, it is not a replacement for regular checkups with a cardiologist or emergency care in case of serious symptoms.

  • Misinterpretations Possible:

While the device is accurate, it’s important to have a cardiologist interpret the results, especially in cases of complex heart rhythms or if symptoms persist.

  • Not for Diagnosing Heart Attacks:
KardiaMobile is not designed to diagnose heart attacks or other acute cardiac events.
